Family Literacy and Family Engagement

Part of PA Comprehensive Literacy

The sweeping legislation know as No Child Left Behind emphasizes the important of active parental involvement in students' academic learning through regular and meaningful two-way communication with the school. This Learning Path provides practical, research-based strategies and best practices for encouraging parents to become full partners in their child(ren)'s education. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan emphasizes that purposeful family engagement—from cradle to career—can create an educational system in which students and parents feel connected and teachers feel supported.
