Understanding by Design is a curriculum and assessment planning framework widely used across the world. The focus of Understanding by Design is teaching for understanding and transfer. This Learning Path, in which participants will explore the different types of learning goals in Stage 1 of the Understanding by Design framework, is designed to help educators to become better equipped at using the UbD framework.
This Learning Path, facilitated by Jay McTighe, co-author of Understanding by Design, provides information about established goals, transfer goals and content worthy of understanding. This practical learning experience is designed for educators who are beginning their study of backward curricular design. Through a variety of videos, collaborative discussions, interactive tools, hands-on activities, and reflections, participants will gain an understanding of backward curriculum design.
